Soul Purpose of a Scorpio Rising
I am going to do a series on each Rising or Ascendant Sign and the soul purpose of that sign. Your Rising Sign is your soul, and it’s what you’re meant to evolve into this lifetime. The rest of your chart can tell us more about how you’re meant to evolve it, the challenges and triumphs you may face along the way, but as a general rule the mission itself is the same.
Previously we talked about Leo Rising. This post is all about Scorpio Rising and their mission in this lifetime. Scorpio is a deep, profound, intense sign. It deals with the taboos and the unconscious. The motto here is, “I create.” It’s all about creative energy and overcoming selfishness.
Part of your soul mission is learning how to sacrifice. A lower vibration in early life you really are the Scorpion. You sting others and don’t think twice about it. It’s rare you will even apologize. For the past two years there has been a lot of stuff happening in your third house, and this means you’re likely about to level up to the mid-vibration of this sign.
This is where you experience a spiritual awakening and start to learn non-attachment. The highest vibration of this placement is the Phoenix Rising, where you do a complete rebirth and transformation. You leave the old ways behind and rise from the ashes.
You feel deep emotions and in order to protect yourself you wall yourself off and act cold and detached. Part of your path requires you opening up to intimacy and sharing your emotions. It’s the path of discipleship. All about you returning to Spirit and the divine.

You are a very sexual sign and will seek in the lower vibration to transform yourself through various taboo sexual encounters. Over time this becomes less fulfilling. You are meant to turn your sexual pleasures from carnal, ego pleasures to a divine, creative, loving space. Sex isn’t bad at all. It’s how you are using it that can be the problem. Many Scorpio Risings will use sex to determine their worth. Who are you outside of sexual encounters?
You are here to focus on spirituality, higher learning, philosophy, and psychology. To focus on gaining wisdom. What has been happening between your third and ninth houses the past couple years has pushed you to not only gather wisdom, but to learn how to communicate it effectively.
You feel more natural in your Taurus descendant in the 7th house. Focused on the material world and the grind, but that isn’t your path this time. It’s the path you took last time, so it fits better. The soul isn’t meant to get stagnant and comfortable, and as a Scorpio Rising your soul will get bored.
You learn through transformation and experiences. Since Capricorn is in your third house of communication this is likely how you will create your legacy. Your voice needs to be heard. There are delays for the first half of your life because where Capricorn is there is karma.
Most of your life you never felt you really fit in anywhere. You struggle to build a community of people who don’t hold you back in some way. You live life feeling as if no one understands you.
It’s likely over the past couple years you have met someone or more than one someone who does understand, but you may still be afraid and clinging to the old as we aren’t done with this astrology quite yet.
Leo is in your tenth house of career and public image. So, you’re meant to stand in a spotlight in the public eye, allowing them to see your transformation, and lead others through their own. The older you get the easier this gets, and many of you the past couple years have thought of making changes if you haven’t already made them.
You have Aquarius in the fourth house of home and family, so part of your mission also involves finding your soul tribe. How do you know who they are? They are teachers for you. They expand your mind with wisdom, knowledge, spirituality, psychology, and philosophy. You transform through learning, and so your tribe will be those who are willing to teach you.
Since Cancer is in the ninth house you nurture your receptive, feminine side best through learning as well. You need people in your life who can make it make sense. Who can answer life’s questions, or at the very least ponder them with you in-depth.
You spend so much time in the lower vibration investigating darkness and taboos because your mission is to turn darkness into light. It’s teaching others how to turn their shadow into light by sharing your own personal journey of healing and transformation. You haven’t had an easy life.
One of the biggest challenges is to not get caught in confrontations, but instead to transmute the energy of volatile situations. In Leo we are learning the individuality and fighting hard for it. With Scorpio the individuality we fought so hard for dissolves into the light of the soul and oneness.
When you feel fear it is felt at the depths of your soul. If you’re living from an ego perspective it feels as if your very survival is being threatened even when it’s something that isn’t a big deal. You must get beyond your fear-based reactions. What is the root of fear itself?
One of the greatest things about Scorpio is your willingness to dive as deep as possible to uncover the root of an issue. So, let me help you here. The root of fear is your inability to tell reality from illusion. Fear is false evidence appearing real. Your ego is an illusion, your soul is the reality. The shadow is the illusion, the light is the reality.
In Leo it was all about self-realization. With you that turns into self-reliance. Everything we need is within us. That’s a deep, spiritual truth. Once you discover this truth you will realize you can always depend on your own divinity and presence.
Where Leo is meant to discover the light is within and to share that light with others in an authentic, vulnerable way, you are meant to transform darkness into that light. This takes the courage to face your fears. To allow the illusion of the darkness or shadow to dissipate. The only way to do this is to face your own shadow and darkness first. You won’t do it trying to save other people.
You are meant to transform yourself through self-reliance and facing your own shadow, and then helping others learn to do the same. There is nothing to fear about your shadow, Scorpio. It’s literally just a protective barrier built by a wounded inner child who needs you to hold their hand and walk them to the light. Not continue to feed their fear and paranoia.
