Soft Enough to be Dangerous
It’s dangerous to not ever be soft. To harden yourself against life, trying to ward off storms that are going to come anyway. To be so afraid of the other shoe dropping, or someone else’s opinion, that you never shed old skins.
To think might makes right and that vulnerability and authenticity are weakness is to lie to yourself. The other shoe is going to drop. It’s going to drop every single time, but that’s life.
If we have to experience the grief, sorrow, anger, and sadness why wouldn’t we lean into the light, love, joy, and happiness where we can? Balance is not ridding ourselves of all the darkness because the light would be too heavy. I think learning to befriend the darkness is where healing begins.
The shadow is not some dangerous demon lurking around every corner. It’s an inner child who is in need of some guidance. And as you intentionally gain wisdom you go back to that shadow and feed it some more light.
I dislike the idea of putting us at war with ourselves, such as with religion, because without a healthy sense of self it’s really difficult to have a healthy relationship with others, but I have learned to let the religious be what they feel they are meant to be, too, until it harms someone else.
It’s when you use your light to evolve your shadow that you change the world. That…
