Open Letter to the Cult of Maga

We need both wings to fly. So can we stop plucking feathers for a moment, and have a meeting of the minds? Today you saw Trump do a press conference, where he blamed Obama, Biden, diversity, and anything that wasn’t himself for the plane crash that killed sixty people.

But did you hear him tell you that on January 20th Elon Musk forced the FAA Administrator to resign, and we haven’t had one since? Did he mention we are down 3000 air traffic controllers, or the fact that they are trying to bribe more to quit? Why would they do that?

Follow the money, friends. Conservative politicians don’t believe in small government for moral and ethical reasons like they proclaim. The truth is, the smaller the government the less money it needs to function. And the rich don’t want to part with any of their money.

They cut safety regulations all the time. Trump did that on lunch meat last time he was president, and under Biden we had a recall due to that policy. Corporations are people, the Supreme Court told us that a long time ago. They don’t care if they make us sick or give us cancer. If they posion the water and give every child in the city irreversable lead poisoning.

If we regulate them and hold them accountable it costs money. We need more socialism. That is not a scary word. It just means we all pool our money together in taxes to collectively take care of things we share, or that benefit us as a society. Breathe. I know that word triggers some people.

Billionaires aren’t going hungry. They aren’t hustling hard. And they certainly are never self-made. And there is nothing wrong with doing a wealth tax for anything above like ten million. Even their first billion. They won’t even fucking miss it.

They have convinced you to kill yourselves to pad their bank account. To hate your neighbor, under the religion that tells you to love them. To support their greed and lust for more and more power. While they crush even you beneath it.

There is no waste in the federal goverment the way they make it sound. They want to cut necessary and vital spending to help a majority of the American people, so that the few at the top can reach their 100 billion mark much quicker, while paying their workers slave wages with no benefits.

When Trump lied that the last election was rigged his supporters stormed the capitol. He just pardoned them all. His case went in front of sixty judges, many of them conservative, Trump appointed judges, and was struck down every time for lack of evidence.

This time Trump admits he rigged the election on video. We find out that there are over three million votes for Kamala that were thrown out and not counted. You hear crickets. Chirp, chirp.

Cutting back safety to save money for the billionaire tax breaks is the agenda. Conservative politicians only want small government because the rich don’t want to pay any taxes. So no good wages, and we pay all the tax as the working poor and middle class.

Our jobs no longer have to keep safety conditions, child labor laws don’t exist, they can pay us shit, offer no benefits, and now all the government benefits you already benefit from do not exist. That’s where we’re headed.

And do you know that a Trump supporter actually complained to me about right to work states? You cannot make this up. It was never a Democrat who put that shit into place. And I’m not a fan of Democrats either. Don’t tell me you’re conservative, that you’re uninformed, and then bitch about the policies the people YOU voted for put into place.

America has been an oligarchy for a long time. For three decades Bernie Sanders has not flip flopped. He’s stood his ground. And he was right. Trump had three billionaires sitting at the front row of his inauguration. He gave them 500 billion for tech. While trying to freeze spending for programs that barely help the poor.

Every Trump supporter I know uses either Medicaid or Food Stamps or both. They would never want their social security taken. But they vote for the man who is actively trying to take all of that to make himself and his rich friends richer. Swampiest of the swamp.

Trump is forcing anyone he hires to pledge loyalty to HIM, not the country, and not the people he was elected to serve. Imagine if Biden had done that. They hypocrisy is so fucking loud and sickening.

And they say, “We’re going to drill for oil in America!” Great, and kill the earth more, so that our children have no future. “They’re deporting all the rapist immigrants!” Great, can we deport the majority white men who commit violent crimes against women? Because I’m far more scared of them.

“He is getting rid of DEI!” Wonderful, so every time we make a step forward for minorities white men get beta. DEI was created because jobs were not based on merit back then. If a woman or minority had merit, the white man still won the spot.

And nothing they tell me he did that’s good even benefits them at all. Trump gets them to suck him off daily for nothing. Drilling for oil here doesn’t improve their lives. Deporting immigrants or birthright citizens doesn’t affect their lives in the least.

Getting rid of DEI won’t suddenly make them rich. They are in a cult. And if you’re part of any right wing group you might be, too. It’s okay if you are and just didn’t know it. It’s never too late to save yourself.

Oftentimes conservatives are isolationist by nature. So it can be easy to play on their conditioning and fears. They become heavily devoted to their ideals, even when those ideals will clearly harm them. It’s all about being a warrior for some cause that helps them escape how small they feel.

I said feel, not are.

They often support someone based on feeling rather than being informed. Convervatives appeal to the lower nature of the human being, and the Liberals to the higher nature. And it takes both, but neither at extremes.

This isolation happens naturally because if you support Trump it’s very hard for the people who love you to want you around. You get upset when we cut you off for supporting him, and act like our daughters potential deaths aren’t enough to make us see you in a completely different light.

You listen to Trump paint us all as outsiders. He makes you feel like you’re part of a club you will never be a part of. One of you messaged me the other day, unprovoked, and said, “Fuck liberals Trump is king”. Do you understand how cultish that statement is?

You guys have such a black and white mentality. Everyone I know who voted for Kamala has a nuanced view of her. We didn’t go into that vote feeling confident she would truly have our back because both sides are paid off. But we were honest about that. We weren’t making her a queen.

Conservatives are more fear-based mindset, and Liberals are more love-based. However, the balance is this: Danger is real, fear is a lie and Real love holds itself and others accountable.

Anything beyond that is illusion. They are selling you snake oil. They use your emotions and biases to control you. FREE. YOUR. MINDS.

Do you know how many Trump supporters I have gotten to admit they aren’t really informed? They just base it on a hunch or the reflection of their learned racism and echo chambers. This is why it’s so frustrating when they want me to agree to disagree.

NO. I have spent time and energy invested in educating myself because people’s lives, who I love, are on the line. And if you don’t love them enough to learn and invest then don’t expect me to learn and invest in you.

Those all speak for themselves if you’re honest. But that last one? You will justify anything he does, no matter how many more women die. No matter how much hate crimes rise. No matter how many minorities are no longer safe. No matter what he does. You justify the most astrocious behavior.

And then act insulted when the people in your life say they no longer want you in their lives. You say it’s their hatred blinding them. All while they have valid concerns for their wives, daughters, mothers, sisters, sons, and the many friends and family who are currently under assault you justify.

You are literally excited about things that will never ever change your life. DEI being gone won’t lower your bills. Deporting law abiding citizens won’t suddenly increase your wages. Drilling for oil in America won’t matter when a woman you love is forced to die because of miscarriage.

You have been conned. Don the fucking con. And meanwhile, we get to trade all of that for women dying all over the country. For our trans family and friends to lose rights, and live in fear, as he emboldens hate crime. For my family and friends to live in terror of losing birthright citizenship.

If someone hurts my kids I will never forgive anyone who wasn’t tellling these truths. So if you’re not telling them, or worse, you’re a justifier of them, we are not the same vibe. You’re not who I thought you were.

If you were, you would be educating yourself and getting real honest. You’d be issuing genuine apologies, and speaking out against what you once supported. Helping us bring others out of the fear-based hell you’ve finally escaped from. I can’t reach you all.
