Empty Houses in Astrology
I always preface telling my story with the fact that today I am close to both my mother and father. I am incredibly proud of their growth. There is no doubt in my mind that both of them love me and my siblings more than we could ever know. Parents don’t harm their children because they do not love their children. It’s born from their lack of self-love and lack of healing.
People often ask what empty houses mean in a birth chart, and so today we’re going to discuss that. You can tell a lot about the empty house based on the sign, the ruling planet of the sign, where that planet is in the chart, and what aspects it is making. I have two empty houses in my chart.
I want to start with the 12th house, which for me is Cancer. The 12th house is known as the house of shadows, the subconscious, our self-doing. It’s a house of isolation and sorrow. What we perceive to be our limitations. It can represent unseen enemies, people who work against us, etc. Also, it can stand for hospitals, prisons, and isolation.
In my case, it will be important to remember that the 12th house is the joy of Saturn, and Saturn is a malefic planet. It restricts and limits. Cancer represents nurturing and the mother, and it is ruled by the Moon. My Moon is in Virgo in the 2nd house. It is conjunct Saturn and my North Node.
